Milan has about half the population Rome has, with 1.3 million. Milan has some cathedrals, but the most famous sight is the Teatro alla Scala, the most famous opera house in the world.

Florence: Firenze, home city of a power ruling family, the Medici, was also in medieval times a trading centre and a very rich city.  It has many cathedrals, statues and significant artwork in many museums. Michelangelo’s David is hosted in Florence’s Galleria dell’ Accademia. Its historic centre is since 1982 a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Venice: Venezia is actually a water city, it is not built on land, but on wood. Inside the water, wood due the lack of oxygen does not decay and it becomes like stone. So houses are not sinking entirely, but with at a very small pace. Venice is a city full of rivers, bridges, small passageways, and of course cathedrals, museums, piazzas, and palaces. You may take along with your amore a romantic boat ride with a traditional flat-bottomed gondola.
